Shani and I worked with a couple getting married at the Adventure Science Center on the day of the Nashville eclipse. Since then, Shani and I have done several wedding shoots together and I always am obsessed with the bride’s final look! About Perfect Day Beauty
Perfect Day Beauty is an on location hair and makeup company providing a custom curated, sophisticated, luxury experience. We believe every client is already beautiful and we are being brought in to enhance that natural beauty in a way that reads well in photos, video, and in person. Perfect Day Beauty was started in July of 2019 by owner Shani Gailbreath. While the name Perfect Day Beauty is new to the bridal hair and makeup industry, Shani is not. Anais Shiba is the other lead artist and has been in the bridal hair and makeup industry for several years as well. Anais and Shani have been doing weddings together since 2017.
What is your favorite part of what you do and what do you love most about Nashville wedding days?
Handing over the mirror after finishing any bride’s or bridesmaid’s look is like a mini adrenaline rush. Seeing someone really love the way they look is why we do this. Also building relationships with new people! Clients and vendors!
What is one piece of advice you have for couples planning their Nashville weddings?
Ask your makeup artist about the cleanliness of their kit and how they sanitize things. The old saying “you get what you pay for” really rings true with hair and makeup. You may be paying for pink eye or a skin infection.
What do you recommend Nashville brides look for when booking a hair and makeup artist or team?
Look for pictures of brides they’ve done wearing hair and makeup looks you’re interested in trying on. If you’re more of a classic, timeless bride you may want to look at artists with classic, clean makeup in their portfolio. If you’re more of a boho bride, you’ll want an artist that specializes in boho hair and makeup. Read reviews!
Painting, reading, listening to podcasts, chasing kids around, watching the kids play sports, live music, creative makeup looks.
What is one of your favorite wedding requests you’ve received?
I was asked to do makeup on a bride’s 99 year old grandmother last year. She was so sweet and wanted to be a part of the girl fun. It was a challenge but a great experience.
I also really love doing Indian weddings. It’s a whole new world of glam. I stay to help pin everything and put the bride’s jewelry on.
