Discovery and Session Goals
It was so much fun getting to know Julie better ahead of her in-home lifestyle branding session! She worked for twenty years as a producer for Oprah on The Oprah Winfrey Show as well as several other shows and primetime specials. Julie is turning her talents to real estate in Nashville, so she wanted to get some branding images that showcase her personal style and real estate expertise. Her goal was to acquire a large collection of images that she can use on her website and lifestyle blog. Julie is essentially relaunching herself, alongside her new career, so it was important that these lifestyle branding photos communicate who she is and why potential clients should work with her.
Julie has a clean and classic aesthetic, so we chose to work with muted colors and a cozy home environment. She was inspired by Martha Stewart and wanted a natural vibe for her branding photos.
Julie was in the process of building her website, so she didn’t have a specific branding vision at the time of our shoot. I guided her towards neutral wardrobe choices: blushes, greens, and blues that would work well with a wide variety of colors and brand elements.
We decided to take her photos at her beautiful home, since she is launching her new career as a real estate expert. She wanted her photos to communicate her specific interests—like gardening, interior design, and her adorable cat—so we moved all around her house and included several rooms, her porch, the stairs, and her garden.
Julie’s Nashville lifestyle blog, and her real estate career, are focused around the emotional elements of buying a home. She’s very focused on why we are drawn to beautiful spaces and how our home shapes who we are and how we exist in the world. I absolutely love how this intimate, emotional element comes through in her lifestyle branding photos! Her potential clients will be able to see Julie’s confidence and comfort in her own home and know that they can trust her to help them find the same happiness in their new homes. A cute cat also never hurts, and luckily Julie’s cat, Beans, made an adorable cameo in a few shots as well!
Here is what Julie had to say about her experience of working with Mandy Liz Photography:
I’ve worked with many excellent photographers in my career and Mandy is at the top. She listened to what I wanted and needed, add her own flourishes and the photos came out even better than what I expected. On the day of the shoot, she was constantly coming up with new ideas but was quick and kept the shoot moving. I couldn’t believe we captured as many beautiful shots as we did in just 2 hours. I will continue working with her and simply cannot sing her praises enough. She also recommended a great hair and make up professional. She’s talented and a good soul!
