My Love Story – Part 3: How He Proposed

March 5, 2020

If you haven’t already read Part 1 (how we met) and Part 2 (all about our long distance relationship), you’ll want to start with those posts! Here I’m diving into how Sean proposed while visiting me in Nashville during his R&R after deployment. Spoiler alert – our proposal involved a scavenger hunt fully planned out with riddles and clues that I had to solve!

April 21, 2014

The last time we had seen eachother was June of 2013 when I visited Sean in England. This time around Sean flew to Nashville after having completed his first deployment with the British Army. It was a Monday afternoon and Sean had spent the day prepping all his riddles and clues for the proposal while I was at work.

That afternoon Sean was eager to drive me back to my apartment so I could check the mail. When I opened my mailbox I found a yellow envelope adorned with a peacock and the number “1” written on the top left corner. It was my first clue!

Sean wrote out 9 riddles to lead me to my proposal. One by one I found the cards, solved the riddles, and was led to my next clue. We ended up at the dog park, a playground, the gym, and a few other spots… but eventually the clues led me to my laptop where Sean had a slideshow playing.

For those who might not know this little fact about me… I’m a big Swiftie. It was no surprise that Sean conveniently picked out “Love Story” by Taylor Swift to play in the background as pictures and video clips made their way on my screen. As the slideshow ended, I looked over at Sean and he was down on one knee with my ring in hand!

Want in on a fun story?

Sean picked out my halo ring himself and loved this specific design because you can see a diamond from every angle. A few days before he proposed we were at a store and he brought up the topic of engagement rings. I quickly mentioned that I didn’t like Halo rings!

He was devastated, but decided to not try to exchange the ring until after he proposed. I don’t even know why I said I didn’t like halo rings, because I love the one he picked out! I definitely made him suffer a little and he was panicking thinking I wouldn’t like my ring!

Part 4 is coming and I’ll be sharing all about our intimate destination wedding in Paris, France and why we chose to elope!
