Nolan & Leanna
Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Nolan and Leanna’s wedding day at Vanderbilt’s Dyer Observatory in Brentwood, TN. I met Leanna a few years ago at a women’s networking event and I have worked with her in the past, so I was so excited when she asked me to be her wedding photographer!
Leanna wore a gorgeous strapless gown with lace details and a tulle skirt. Her veil was the same one her sister wore for her own wedding, which made it a perfect “something borrowed”. Leanna’s bridal bouquet was vibrant and colorful with rich fall elements like peach cockscomb and berries! My favorite getting ready detail were her navy shoes which complemented Nolan’s navy vest and pocket square!
Nolan and Leanna had a beautiful day, and they were present and enjoyed their time with friends and family, even when thunder clapped and rain clouds rolled through. They originally planned to have their ceremony in front of the Dyer Observatory building, but once it started raining they decided to move the ceremony to the back of the building under the reception tent! Luckily Nolan and Leanna opted to do a first look before the ceremony, so we were able to capture some beautiful portraits for them before the rain came!
One of the reasons Nolan and Leanna chose to get married at the Dyer Observatory is that it is a unique wedding venue. The coolest thing about this venue is that is has a huge telescope and they allow guests to visit the observatory and look through the telescope! Nolan and Leanna were able to see Saturn together on the night of their wedding!
My favorite reception moments included the pie cutting (and obviously eating the pie!) and all the dancing! Nolan and Leanna danced to “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds for their first dance together, and later in the night they did a Dollar Dance where their guests paid a dollar to get to dance with the bride or groom!
Enjoy some of my favorite images from their gorgeous day! Thank you to all who helped make Nolan and Leanna’s day a huge success!
