Julie celebrated her 40th birthday with a fun and festive Mad Hatter tea party with her closest friends at her home in Tennessee. The themed event had perfect Alice and Wonderland details from start to finish. The decor and tablescape were carefully designed with pops of color and spring-like flowers. Each guest had mismatched china with a playing card with their name printed on them, and Julie’s Alice in Wonderland books were placed through out the table alongside her tea sets.
Guests arrived in tea party attire, and several ladies wore whimsical hats and designs. Julie’s Alice inspired costume perfectly fit the Mad Hatter party theme. As the ladies chatted, musicians played softly in the background to add to the party atmosphere.
The ladies took their seats and tea was served. There was a 3 course menu that included Egg Salad Sandwiches, Cucumber Dill Sandwiches, Cherry Tomato Basical Balsamic Crustinies, Toasted Ham and Cinnamon Apple Butter on Wonton Wrappers, Tea biscuits and scones served with jam and fresh strawberries, and macaroons and desserts from the dessert table.
The dessert table had the dreamiest white and pink cake, clock and tea bag cookies, and floral decorated cupcakes. Charlotte, Julie’s pet white rabbit, was perfectly included as part of the party, and guests gravitated toward the dessert table to pet her.
After tea was served, the ladies enjoyed some entertainment from a magician. He started a fire in his pocketbook, awed guests with his mind tricks, and successfully guessed the card that Julie held in her hand. After his magic show, he surprised the ladies with Alice in Wonderland scratch off cards that Julie got for them. The riddle on the card said, “Alice is lost in Wonderland. Find the key, bottle, or cake to help get her home.” The ladies scratched off their cards, and the ones with the missing items won prizes!
The ladies then got their portraits taken in their party outfits, and they wrapped up the party by making their own goodie bag. Julie collects china and antique pieces, so the party favors were mismatched china that the ladies could put together in a gift bag and take home!
