I spend most of my time photographing professional, inspiring girl bosses or couples who are madly in love, but every now and then I get to sneak in some time with cuddly, snuggly babies. These are such special occasions for both me and the families who are welcoming sweet new additions! A lifestyle newborn shoot is one of the best types of photo sessions because it is intimate, relaxed, and captures the magic of your baby’s new nursery. The newborn stage flies by in a blink, but an in-home lifestyle shoot is the perfect way to freeze time and make sure you have those tiny, perfect moments captured forever.
I had previously worked with new mom Julia for a branding session, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph her growing family! She and her husband, Brady, set up an adorable nursery for baby Knox. The night sky theme was incorporated so stylishly and sweet, with a grey, white, and dark blue color palette that included a subtle use of stars and coordinating framed art work. They even had a precious star-covered swaddle so Knox fit right in with his new room. An in-home lifestyle newborn shoot is extra special because it gives you a more natural photo while also capturing the sweet details of the nursery you worked so hard to decorate.
When you schedule an in-home newborn session, we plan around your little one’s feeding schedule so I can snap away while baby is full and sleepy. Baby Knox was much more cooperative after a good meal! I also recommend that new moms dress in loose clothing that is both flattering and comfortable. Julia chose a beautiful and neutral dress paired with a neutral cardigan for the perfect blend of comfort and style. In-home lifestyle sessions are great for newborns and parents alike. Everyone is generally much more laidback at home, so the resulting photos tend to be more relaxed and peaceful, like these sweet snaps of Knox with his proud mom and dad.
