As a Nasvhille wedding photographer I’ve captured some amazing weddings and celebrations… But Casey and MacKenzy’s navy and sage backyard wedding in Lafayette, TN is hands down one of my favorites! This celebration was chock full of significant details, sentimental moments and one of a kind wedding ideas.
The entire wedding day took place where MacKenzy grew up! The girls got ready upstairs in MacKenzy’s childhood home. The bride walked down the aisle and the couple exchanged vows in the front yard of her parent’s property. The reception was held in a tent in the backyard. Casey and MacKenzy skipped a traditional wedding venue, and instead planned a perfect backyard wedding on a piece of land that’s already so rich in memories.
Every detail of their wedding was thoughtfully planned out. Through out the day you could spot their custom wedding logo. It was printed on the invitations and paper goods, on flags staked through out the yard, and even on the coasters gifted to the wedding attendees. Casey is a duck hunter and MacKenzy loves golf… So it’s only fitting that their emblem included a gun and golf club with an “R” under them.
MacKenzy’s grandfather, Louie, also contributed to several sentimental moments… The ring box used during the ceremony was handmade by Louie and had an “R” engraved in the wood. The bride and groom also made their grand exit in a restored 1929 Ford Model A getaway car that MacKenzy’s grandfather gifted to her in 2008. He had the car all through her childhood and she always said she would drive that car when she turned 16. He gifted it to her in 2008, and she finished restoring it this year just in time for the wedding.
Some of my other favorite details from their backyard wedding include Caddie, MacKenzy’s sweet dog who walked down the aisle with MacKenzy’s sister and sat with her parents for the whole ceremony, the unity cross, and even he significance of their wedding date! Casey and MacKenzy’s wedding day, August 14th, was the birthday of one of her close family friends. When they were in middle school, he used to ride home with MacKenzy and her brother everyday. On Fridays they would stop and get a Coca-Cola ICEE as a treat! He was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2011, and MacKenzy chose to honor and remember him at the wedding by having an ICEE machine at the reception bar.
Casey and MacKenzy’s day was truly a special one to witness. I have so many favorite pictures from this backyard wedding in Lafayette, TN, but you can find just a handful of the highlights below!
