I always love when my wedding clients choose to schedule a time for engagement pictures! Your engagement session is the perfect time to get dressed up, have fun together, and get comfortable in front of my camera before your wedding day! I love engagement sessions because I believe it can be an amazing way to capture the new season you are in as a couple, but I also see how my clients benefit from their time with me before their wedding.

I always encourage my clients to choose a location that is meaningful or personal to them. That’s why I loved when Travis and Ashley asked if we could start their engagement session at their CrossFit gym. They are both avid CrossFitters and it is a big part of their relationship. So it was a lot of fun to pose them in that setting for their pictures.

I also encourage my clients to bring props, relationship moments, or even include their pets in their pictures! The reason I do this is because I want your engagement pictures to be a true reflection of who you guys are as a couple! Travis and Ashley decided to include their sweet rescue dogs, Luna and Theo, which made the shoot extra fun!

We headed to Radnor Lake after we took pictures at the gym. Radnor Lake is a beautiful state park in Nashville that has trails, wildlife and the most beautiful lake view. We used some of the trails, a bridge, the canopying trees, and the lake lookout as the backdrop for their pictures!

Here are some of my favorite tips for recently engaged couples planning their Nashville engagement session:

1. The Engagement session could be the perfect time to book a trial run with your Hair and Make Up Artist. This will allow you to test your look before your wedding day while looking extra fabulous for your engagement pictures!
2. Shy away from large text, neon colors, or multiple patterns on your clothing… You don’t want your outfits to add distraction. I always tell my brides that one casual look and one classier outfit is perfect!
3. Don’t forget about your nails! You will be showing off your ring for the camera so an engagement session is the perfect excuse to get a manicure!
4. If you choose to include your pets in your session, I always recommend having a friend or family member come to assist with your fur baby! I absolutely love sessions with pets and know that everything is much smoother with another set of hands helping out!
