I had the pleasure of working with Elle McCann from Curious Themes last October for her branding session at Muletown Collective. Elle’s company is a web design studio based out of Nashville that helps people start online businesses. She also offers online classes and YouTube videos for entrepreneurs to learn about Shopify.
When Elle approached me about her branding session, she knew she wanted a setting that was gender neutral and fun. She co-works at Muletown Collective, which ended up being the perfect location for her creative headshots. Elle’s goal for her branding images was for them to appear friendly and educational. She wanted her audience to see her and her brand and think of her as a friend to have coffee with and mastermind their business.
Elle came prepared for her branding photography session and she brought several outfits and props for us to use. She posed with her laptop, a coffee mug, fresh flowers, and a journal, and we created several different looks with her outfits. I always encourage my clients to include props during their session, because it tends to help them generate content later when they are ready to use their images for their business.
My favorite image from this session is the one of Elle in her green dress posing in front of the building mural on the white wall. She looks so relaxed and approachable, yet professional! I also love the headshots of Elle standing in front of the blue, black, and red painting. It was a happy accident that she matched the painting so well, but those headshots ended up being creative and unique because of it!
