This was one of those shoots that I did “just for fun” as a way to be creative after feeling inspired by the Solar Eclipse that took place in Nashville last August.
I shot a Solar Eclipse elopement on the morning of the eclipse, so this styled wedding was partially inspired by that couple. For this shoot, we included a lot of touches of black and gold, including a black wedding dress and black bridal veil. The table was adorned with black linens and simple gold and black utensils and plates.
We styled this shoot at our local science center in Nashville, and used their planetarium for the ceremony location and their Galactic Gardens for the reception area. Our solar eclipse wedding theme also featured constellations and the night sky. We wanted the shoot to be very astronomical, but also fun and different.
One of my favorite parts of real wedding days is when the bride and groom exchange gifts. For this shoot we had the groom gift the bride a certificate where he named a star after her. We thought this would be the perfect touch for a wedding themed around the solar eclipse and constellations.
Some of my favorite details of the shoot include: the gorgeous calligraphy- especially the vows written with white ink on the black and grey watercolor, the stunning starry night wedding cake – 3 tiers with specks of gold stars and topped with blue and purple macarons, and the moody maroon sunflower in the bouquet!
