Fall is here! Summer is great, but I love being able to break the boots and jackets out of the closet! Plus, I love being able to use layers to change up the look of my client’s portraits.

I shot with Sierra at an abandoned Airpark-turned greenway in East Nashville this past weekend. This is easily one of my favorite locations in Nashville, and I feel that it’s a little different every time you go.

Sierra is from New York, and is in Nashville pursuing a career in acting and music. As an actress, she spends plenty of time in front of the camera, so she was a natural during our session! When Sierra and I were brainstorming ideas for the session, she sent me several options for outfits that she could bring. I was too indecisive and liked so many of her ideas that I had her bring all of them!

We started with a soft feminine look with a blouse and boots. I love the way Sierra’s look changes with a simple accessory. Her jacket and hat were great statement pieces, and it changed her entire style for the pictures!

At the Airpark there were several other photographers doing sessions, and we even saw a drummer with his full drum kit out in the middle of the tarmac filming videos. The great thing about this location is that it never feels crowded! There is so much open space, so it’s never a problem.

Highlights from this shoot: 1. Sierra’s vintage skirt that she found at a Salvation Army in New York one day when she was thrifting. (It looks like something from a catalog from the 50’s. Seriously, it’s so gorgeous. Plus she paired it well with her nude heels) 2. Cows crashed our shoot, and I’m not even mad. 3. Golden hour 4. the X on the tarmac.

Sierra and I stayed until the sun went down. The entire air park cleared, and it was just us and the deer! We managed to get a few shots during blue hour before it was pitch black out, and we saved the coziest outfit for last!
